Georges St-Pierre was born on born May 19, 1981 in Montreal, Canada. The French Canadian mixed martial art terror is biligual in French and English. Georges St-Pierre fought in his first amateur MMA competition at the bright young age of 16, knocking out his rival (who was 9 years his senior). St Pierre recalled the bout, saying, "When I won my first amateur (MMA) fight, I was 16 years old and I beat a guy that was 25. I was only a Kyokushin karate fighter and the guy I fought was a boxer. At the time my ground skills were very poor, I didn't know anything on the ground."
Only a few short years later he made his professional Mixed Martial Arts debut in the UCC, squaring off against Ivan Menjivar. After knocking out Menjivar in the first round, St. Pierre's next fight saw him stake a claim to the UCC championship belt against Justin Bruckmann. In a stirring upset, St. Pierre beat the defending champion in the first round.
St-Pierre eventually moved onto the Ultimate Fighting Championship, making his debut at UFC 46. He continued his profilic winning streak by defeating Karo Parisyan by unanimous decision. Shortly thereafter he was pitted against Jay Hieron at UFC 48, soundly defeated him via a technical knockout in under 2 minutes.
He is currently ranked as one of the top pound-for-pound MMA fighters in the world by multiple MMA media outlets. Several of these publications have also ranked Georges St-Pierre as the number one welterweight in the world. St-Pierre holds these distinctions for good reason, as he is the current UFC Welterweight Champion.
As one might imagine, his long list of MMA accomplishments have made Georges St-Pierre memorabilia rather popular and pricey, though it is still affordable in comparison to autographed memorabilia from other sports. St-Pierre's history of success at every level of Mixed Martial Arts competition appears to have him on a path for the UFC Hall of Fame. Should that happen, the prices paid now for autograph St-Pierre memorabilia will likely be looked back on as a fantastic value.
